Muktinath trek is lies north of Pokhara in the Annapurna Region. This is the most popular trekking destination of Nepal which attracts many trekkers. The scenery and culture of this trek is remarkable. Muktinath is the famous pilgrimage spot where both Hindus and Buddhists come to worship. Mukti means salvation & Nath means the God, thus the Meaning of Muktinath becomes the God of Salvation. Hindus believe it as a scared place of salvation, if they took a bath in the Muktinath waters, the God will grant salvation after death. Buddhists believe the place to be the meditation point for the great sage Guru Rinpochhe.You’ll find some fossilized stones in the Kaligandaki Valley known as saligrams in Nepal & India. Hindus & Bhuddishts consider the Saligrams as sacred & worship the stone as the incarnation of Hindu God Visnu. You will find these saligram stones scattered all along the upper reaches of the kaligandaki valley.There is also what the locals call the eternal flame that probably come from a natural gas source underground.
The trails take you along the Kaligandaki River between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massif and to the desert like Tibetan plateau.
