Langtang region that lies to the north of Kathmandu and south of the Tibetan border offers many trekking destination. Langtang Valley trekking is a famous and interesting trekking. Langtang is a renowned narrow valley covered by wildflowers and rhododendron. It is surrounded by high peaks and known as the treasure house of the alpine plants.

Trekking to Langtang region begins from the town of Dhunche which is 117 km from Kathmandu. Dhunche is a picturesque village with narrow streets lined with stone buildings.  Buses to Dhunche leave from the intersection of the Ring Road and the road to Balaju, north of Kathmandu.
