Langtang and Gosaikunda trek - 17 Days

Langtang Gosaikunda Pass Trek: Gosainkunda Lake is one of the most religious lakes in Nepal. The holy lake Gosainkunda is also associated with Lord Shiva. So, to explore this lake, our Langtang Gosaikunda Pass Trek commences from Syabrubesi. After this, it later goes into settlements like the Lama Hotel and the Langtang village. Relish at the sight of the Himalayas and heads towards the mighty Kyangjin Gompa. Traverse the summit of Tserko Ri and move towards the delightful Sing Gompa.

As you interact with the locals, you’ll head to the Gosainkunda lake and after observing the beauty of the lake, you will head down to Ghopte and then to Thadepati. As you explore the wilderness, arrive at Kutumsang and head towards Sundarijal. Observe the glorious watershed and waterfall and head back to Kathmandu marking the end of this trip.
This holy trek sees you climb lots of hills and mountains that are avalanche prone. You need proper skills and determination in order to complete this trek. The trekking is best favorable in the autumn season as the environment is lively and energetic.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,400 m) Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)
Today you will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The company staff will be there to pick you up and he will transfer you to your hotel. Once you reach the hotel, you shall discuss the contents of this trip with the company manager. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek
To trek in the Langtang region, you need to have the necessary trek permits and documents. We shall get them sorted at first and then we will head out on a quick sightseeing trip that includes a majority of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Along with that, we will even visit the
quaint settlements that surround the Kathmandu valley. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,462 m) 7 hrs trek
The trail for the day sees us drive along the Prithivi highway and enter the gateway of the Langtang region, Syabrubesi. The drive takes us about 6 hours and we need to travel through the paved and unpaved roads. Along the way, Trishuli river will be our constant companion. Once you reach Syabrubesi, you will head to your lodge. You can observe numerous trekkers and climbers here. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480m) 6 hrs trek
The hike for the day sees us walk for at least 6 hours. The trail greets us with a beautiful display of terraced fields with a blend of dense forests. The trail follows the Langtang river and crosses numerous suspension bridges. The wildlife in these parts comprises of Langur, Black bear, and even red panda. As we traverse the chorten filled trails, we find ourselves reaching the vicinity of Lama hotel. This small village lies in the middle of forests. Overnight in Lama hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3,307m) 6-7 hrs trek
Today, we will proceed towards the major village of the Langtang region, which is the Langtang village. This village is an epicenter of Tamang culture and traditions. We need to cross GhodaTabela and huge yak pastures to reach here. This village was badly affected by the 2015 earthquake and now it is on the road to recovery. From the village, you can catch stunning views of the Langtang mountain ranges and glaciers. Overnight in Langtang village.

Day 06: Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m) 3 hrs trek
Kyangjin Gompa is the biggest and most important Buddhist monastery in the Langtang region. This Gompa teaches people about the importance of Buddhism and its influence on the lives of locals. We shall cross the largest Mani wall in Nepal and walk across perilous wooden bridges. The Gompa serves as a retreat for travelers that want to learn Buddhism and observe mesmerizing views of the surrounding. Overnight in Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 07: Hike to Tserko-Ri (5,033m) Then back to Kyangjn Gompa 6 hours overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After observing the morning prayers and rituals in the Kyangjin Gompa, we shall begin our hike to Tserko Ri. It is a great vantage point that lies near the Gompa. From here, you can witness amazing views of numerous mountains that decorate the Langtang region like Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar. You can spend the day interacting with the locals and learning about their culture. Overnight in Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 08: Trek down to Lama Hotel (2,480m) 5 hrs trek
From Kyangjin Gompa, we need to retrace our steps back to Lama hotel. We shall use the same steps that we had previously used. The descending journey takes us back to Langtang village. From here, we can witness amazing views of the snow-laden mountains and green hills. Have lunch here, and then proceed back to Lama hotel. Overnight in Lama hotel.

Day 09: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,260m) 4-6 hrs trek
From Lama hotel, we need to navigate towards Thulo Syabru. The journey sees a further decrease in elevation and provides a delightful panorama of the ambiance in the Langtang region. As we move ahead, we can see small Tamang settlements. We finally arrive at Thulo Syabru, which is a bustling village and is influenced by the Tibetan way of life. Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Day 10: Trek to Sing Gompa (3,330m) 3-5 hrs trek
The trail now takes us all the way to Sing Gompa. It is another religious monastery in the Langtang region and is a resting spot before heading out to the Gosainkunda lake. There are small lodges and Teahouses in the periphery of the Gompa. The inhabitants in these parts are mostly Tamangs and have their own way of life. Overnight in Sing Gompa.

Day 11: Trek to Gosainkunda (4,400m) 5 hrs trek
From Sing Gompa, we make our way to Gosainkunda. This holy lake is a famous pilgrim hub for both Hindus and Buddhists. The climb to the lake is pretty taxing and difficult. The elevation also increases drastically. There are myths which state that the lake was originated when Lord Shiva struck a glacier with a trident. It is believed that the water of the lake cleanses the sins of people. Overnight in Gosainkunda.

Day 12: Trek Via Gosaikunda Pass (4,610m) Down to Ghopte (3,440m) 4-6 hrs trek
Today, we shall cross the amazing Laurebinayak pass which is also known as the Gosainkunda pass. This pass is filled with snow and during winter, it is not easy to cross. After using proper trekking equipment, we cross the pass and from there, we are greeted by panoramic views of snowy mountain ranges. From the pass, we head towards Ghopte. This small village is famous for homestay service. Overnight in Ghopte.

Day 13: Trek to Thadepati 5-6 hrs trek
From Ghopte, the trail takes us to Thadepati. The trail sees a drastic decrease in elevation and as you head down, you can witness the landscape changing from snowy ones to green and forested ones. We shall arrive at Thadepati Bhanjyang after walking for approximately 5 hours. The walk is downhill so it won’t be that difficult. Overnight in Thadepati.

Day 14: Trek to Kutumsang (2,450m) 5-6 hrs trek
The trail now enters the Shivapuri national park premises. The road is downhill and filled with wild flora and fauna. The trail provides a picturesque view of the Helambu valley and the faraway mountain ranges like Jugal and Numbur. In Kutumsang, you can see Tamang people who have their own way of life and culture. Spend the evening in a lodge in Kutumsang. Overnight in Kutumsang.

Day 15: Trek to Chisapani Danda (2,251m) 4-6 hrs trek
Today, we will head to Chisapani. This is a small village which is a resting spot for many on the Langtang trek or the Sundarijal Chisapani trek. This is also a great relaxing point close to the Kathmandu valley. The views from the Chisapani Danda include Langtang mountain range and Gaurishankar. Overnight in Chisapani Danda.

Day 16: Trek to Sundarijal (1,460m) 5 hrs trek
After a night’s stay in Chisapani, we proceed ahead towards Sundarijal. The walk is mostly downhill and takes us past small Tamang settlements. We shall have our lunch in Mulkharka and after interacting with the Tamang people, we continue our descent. The journey takes about 5 hours and once you reach Sundarijal, you can see the waterfall and water reservoir. From Sundarijal, catch a bus and head towards your hotel. Overnight in Sundarijal.

Day 17: Departure from Kathmandu to your onward destination
Today marks the end of your marvelous journey in the laps of the Himalayas. Our representative will see that you are dropped at the Tribhuvan International Airport on time. Goodbye and Thanks.
